Our name looks like it was picked by the Windows Live sentence naming committee. How about a short name and a subtitle?

I like the RegNamespace one, though i think that should just be for the assembly or something; but use the full "Registry Namespace" for the human readable name/titles;

The only other thing i could really say would be a big help besides the ability to create new (as per other post) would be the ability to right click a key/value and "Export..." to a standard .reg file.

Add support for the following context menu verbs:

For keys:
New Key
New Value (of various types)
Add to favorites

For keys and values:
Rename
Delete
Cut/Copy/Paste
Properties?

This might need to be broken down into several work items.

absolutely i agree, that being able to add new keys/values is very important to make this a fully usable piece of software.

This would be the #1 feature improvement by far.

I would consider the ability to add Keys and Values most important, followed by cut/copy/paste functionality. The other options would be nice, but don't constitute basic functionality really needed to work with the registry.

Rename/Delete functionality seems to have been implemented already.

Hi AR. Deleting the icon doesn't delete the registration - it ADDs a key modifying the SFGAO flags. We need to add the removal of this key to the MSI so that uninstall/reinstall can get it back, as well as a remove message telling folks the needed steps to get it back.

Run this command to get it back.

reg delete HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\CLSID\{E48ABDCD-0DE7-4C5A-91EB-13D6E81506F0} /f

I see that the install option regarding "hiding" does control whether it shows on the Desktop or not without effecting it's appearance in explorer windows... so I partly take back my suggestion to have this option! Only bonuses would be if it were clearer in the install that that is what the option did, and an interface to configure this behavior. If it showed up with other system icons in the "Change Desktop icons" dialog (and was documented to be there), that would be great!

I'm not sure about the repair option. I generally don't love it when repair chucks a bunch of my personalization. This is still probably a reasonable choice for repairing, though.

I agree that would be nice - I'll look into what it takes to appear in that list.

OH, and when you add this to the setup, it would be good for the "Repair" option of course to remove this key, too.

For anyone who had the same problem and is reading this, the "/f" in the command line James supplied needs to go at the end for it to succeed.

It would be nice if there was a way to hide the icon from actual Desktop, so it would only show up in Explorer (various system Desktop icons do this -- by default Computer, Network and Control Panel).

We've discovered some issues with the MSI in the current release. There's a dependency used in registration that isn't guaranteed to be installed at the point that it is used. Possible fixes: * static link to the CRT in a msi-embedded dll that is only used for registration/unregistration (to limit the static linking badness). * use a separate MSI to guarantee that the dependency is always already installed.
