Help on Library

Jun 29, 2007 at 6:34 AM
Hello,
Can you please provide me some useful resources to let me start working on this library? Mainly, I am interested in building a virtual drive where I will load data from database and show them as Folders. I want also to copy the folders, create new ones and directly synchronize with the database.

Is this doable with this library? I am a C# developer is this fine or I have to learn C++?

Can you help in please?
Thanks a lot

This project is a good starting point for that. You'll mostly be interested in the RegNamespace project and won't need RegPH unless you want to index the files you're exposing.

I'm afraid managed code isn't yet appropriate for shell extensions. You don't have to learn c++, but you do need to write in native code (I do recommend c++, however).

http://shellrevealed.com is a great resource, http://shellrevealed.com/forums/default.aspx is a good forum for asking questions. There's also great support on the newsgroups. http://www.microsoft.com/communities/newsgroups/list/en-us/default.aspx?dg=microsoft.public.platformsdk.shell

And, of course, here. :)

Thanks,
James
